Vietnam To Welcome Almost 13 Million Foreign Tourists This Year

Vietnam is about to receive 12.8 millions foreign visitors in 2017, a 28% raise compare with 2016 and break the record of 10 millions last year.

General Statistics Office’s latest report show that in first 11 months of 2017, more than 11.6 foreign tourist visited Vietnam, a 28% jump from same period of 2016. According same report, 30% of this number is Chinese tourists and made China become biggest market for Vietnam tourism industry which nearly double than second spot with 18% by South Korea.

However, in term of of growth, South Korea top the list with 55% increas, follow by China with 44% and number of Russian visitors raise by 34.8%.

Last year, Vietnam welcomed 10 millions visitors, make a highest record and surged 26 percent from the previous year.

In 2015, the country received 7.9 million tourists and forecast just 8.5 million for 2016.

Vietnam ranked 7th on top of tourism growth globally by United Nations World Tourism Organization  on June of 2017 and is the only country in Southeast Asia got into top 10.

Tourism is expected to be the key of economic, “It is better to welcome 1 million tourists than trying to find 1 million tons of crude oil because tourism is more eco-friendly and safe for the economy,” deputy PM said.
