There will be another place for book lovers to spend their free time as Ho Chi Minh City second book street will be launch soon after successful of first one.
Nguyen Dong Tri Street in District 7 will be home of the newest book street . A budget of VND14 billion ($616,500) is planned to convert this area, and the city intends to use private funding to cover the expense.
The first book street in Ho Chi Minh City opened in January 2016 and quickly became new attraction for tourist and local people thanks for its location which is very close to historic places Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral.
Mayor Nguyen Thanh Phong said at first book street open ceremony that more book streets will be opened across the city to create cultural rendezvous points and contribute to the local reading culture.
In 2017, book street in Saigon welcomed 2.4 million visitors, well above the figure of 1.5 million last year, and earned VND50 billion ($2.2 million) in revenue.
