By Taxi
There are bunch of taxi companies operating in Hanoi along with many private taxis and it makes catching a taxi becomes very easy. In Hanoi, there is no area reserved for taxi stops so visitors can take a ride almost everywhere. If you have a fair idea of how far you’re going or how much you’re willing to pay, this is probably a good idea.

By Uber/Grab
As of April 2015, Uber was available in Vietnam. It is supper easy way to order your private rider through their application. Estimate price will be shown whenever you request for a ride. Credit card accepted also is convenient and safe way to pay. UberMotor also is ideal way to travel between short distances.
Grab – a Singaporean company – offers a similar service but using both services together is highly recommended to take advantage of real time good price changes and promotions.
By cyclo
Cyclo is a traditional small-scale local means of transport and suitable for travel around to sightseeing within the Old Quarter. The price for 01 hour cyclo tour is around 100,000 VND (5 USD). If you chose to travel by cyclo, be clear on your destination.
Rent a motorbike/scooter
Motorbike is not only a mean kind of transport but also is important part of Hanoi’s culture. You need to pay 5 – 6 USD/day for a motorbike and this service is arranged by almost all hotel/hostel in the city but you must fill up gas by yourself with the price of 18,000 (0,8 USD)/litter.
This is best way to make a lot of trip around the city and can help to save a lot from taxi fee. But be careful, traffic in Hanoi is massing and will cause a bit of difficulty in the first.
Parking is not a problem since sidewalk in front of most all the shops, stores of cafes are for motorbike park. But inside the Old Quarter parking fee should be require (5,000 – 10,000 VND).
By bus
Bus is cheap (7,000 VND) and bus lines cover almost all the city but sometimes you must wait nearly half hour due traffic jams so your bus got stuck somewhere else.
Bus map can be bought at any book store or at some bus stops. Only cash in VND is accepted to buy tickets.
