Streets and alleys near the famous West Lake is planed to transform in to Hanoi’s third pedestrian zone in an effort to lure more tourists and create an entertainment space for locals.
From 19th August, all vehicle will be banned at Trinh Cong Son Street, named after one of Vietnam’s most beloved musicians who died in 2001, and parts of Alley 431 Au Co and Alley 612 Lac Long Quan that run along West Lake Water Park, according to local media.
Outdoor performances and 60 stalls selling food and souvenirs are some new public services at this area when walking street open.
After walking zone around Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter, this will be third walking street of the capital.
Nearly 12 million tourists arrived in Hanoi in the first six months of this year, a 8 percent jump from same period last year, as an official data report. This number including five millions foreign visitors, up 5 percent.
