Vietnam Airlines Serves 200 Millionth Passenger

On 5th December, Vietnam Airlines welcomed its 200 millionth passenger arrival to Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is an important milestone in the airline’s 20 years of development.

The lucky passenger was Vietnamese name Nguyen Truong Chinh who flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on the flight number VN223. His flight landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport on 10.00 AM.

“Recording 200 million passengers in more than two decades since the foundation is a milestone for Vietnam Airlines.”, said by Duong Tri Thanh, Vietnam Airlines General Director.

“Today’s achievement is thanks to the trust of millions of domestic and international passengers. The ceremony to welcome the 200 millionth passenger is our tribute to every passenger who puts their trust in Vietnamese Airlines on every flight.” Mr. Thanh pledged that the national carrier will continue to improve its services.

The national airlines had operated more than 1.6 millions for both domestic and international routes with average growing rate is 11% yearly between 1995 and 2017.

Total income of Vietnam Airlines in last 22 years is more than VND777 trillion (US$34 billion), average grow rate is 15.62% per year.

It earned pre-tax profit of nearly VND18 trillion (US$792 million) in the 22-year period and contributed VND41 trillion (US$1.8 billion) to the State budget
